Christ Bears Our Burdens

"You come to God in prayer, and you say, Here Lord, my anguish is so great I cannot form my prayer into words, but, Lord, thou understandest it all, and I lay my burden upon thee, the Burden-bearer. I will lay it on thee, and thou hast promised to take it. Take my burden of cares, I cannot carry it any longer; now, Lord, bear it for me. Now since you have thus carried your burden to the Lord, leave it there; do not take it away with you." (Read the rest of this excerpt on laying our burdens on Christ from 1870.)

Pray Without Ceasing

"It is not in our power to estimate the supplies that are provided by the Lord to meet our demands. What power might attend the church did we but call frequently and in faith for the abundant treasure of the store-house of God. We have only begun to taste of the richness of the divine promises. It is our privilege to drink largely of the fountain of boundless love."

Lord's Prayer

"WE should understandingly present to God the prayer that Christ taught His disciples. In it is mentioned all that we need. We are not to think that we should always limit our petitions by simply repeating this prayer, but it is short and embraces everything."

Prevailing Prayer

"It is only by watching unto prayer, and the exercise of living faith, that the Christian can preserve his integrity in the midst of the temptations that Satan brings to bear upon him. But “whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world; and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” Talk to your heart constantly the language of faith: “Jesus said He would receive me, and I believe His word. I will praise Him; I will glorify His name.” Satan will be close by your side to suggest that you do not feel any joy. Answer him: “This is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.’ I have everything to be glad of; for I am a child of God. I am trusting in Jesus. The law of God is in my heart; none of my steps shall slide.” {BEcho September 24, 1894, par. 9}

Prayer And Soul Winning

"How often do we tug at the oars, as though our own strength and wisdom were sufficient, until we find our efforts useless. Then, with trembling hands and failing strength, we give up the work to Jesus and confess we are unable to perform it. Our compassionate Redeemer pities our weakness; and when, in answer to the cry of faith, He takes up the work we ask Him to do, how easily He accomplishes that which seemed to us so difficult." {4T 530.2}

Prayer, The Holy Spirit, The Will of God

"This is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” 1 John 5:4. The Lord knows your desire; by faith keep close to Him and expect to receive the Holy Spirit. The office of the Holy Spirit is to control all our spiritual exercises. The Father hath given His Son for us, that through the Son the Holy Spirit might come to us and lead us to the Father. Through His divine agency, we have the spirit of intercession whereby we may plead with God as a man pleadeth with his friend." {Lt11b-1892.13}

Praying in the Last Days

In this sermon title, The True Missionary's Dependence is in God," specific admonition is given for praying when the church is challenged to shine brightly in spite of a world that is busily seeking to forget God and the teachings of the Bible.

Prayer: A Bible Study

[Taken from the Bible Training School]

"PRAYER is the link that connects us with Christ, or as it is sometimes stated, “Prayer is the key that opens heaven.” Few realize the mighty power there is in the prayer of faith." Discover what the Bible says on secret and family prayer, who we should intercede for, and the posture we should assume when praying.

Why Prayers Are Not Answered

This is a Bible study that I put together on why prayers are not answered.—Dan
