It has been our experience that Christian music wonderfully aids parents in their quest to reach their children. On this page we will list some of the lessor known songs and hymns that have proven to be a blessings. In some cases we have added lyrics to better known melodies, or added verses to what was already known. This will be a work in progress.
Introduction:
I have the privilege of rocking a grand daughter to sleep from time to time. The singing that initiates this time is a very sweet time for the two of us. There are two songs that are invariably part of that time, "The boat on Galilee," in which only a section of the chorus is used, and "In My Father's House." With the first, I only use the chorus, but it is sweet and much appreciated by the little one. With the second, "In My Father's House," I have slowly added verses over time that bring more spiritual depth to the song. Both songs are featured below. The second has many of the new lines that I have added to enhance the spirituality of the song.
Maude Knox-Albertsworth (1892-
Maude was a Seventh-day Adventist music teacher. This was first published in 1915. It was later published in the 1951 edition of Sabbath School Songs for Tiny Tots. I only use the chorus when I am singing with the little one.
"Rock, rock, rock, little boat on the sparkling sea,
Rock, rock, rock, dear Jesus rides in thee.
Rock, rock, rock, for the waters swiftly flee.
For Jesus rides in the little boat on blue Galilee."
This is an English praise song that is now in the public domain. Some may know the song better as "In My Father's House."
